Privacy policy

Information we collect

Information you provide. If you email us or use the linked Google Forms submission form, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as contact details, your message, and proposed listing. Please do not send sensitive personal information.

Technical information. Requests to our hosting and service providers may include your IP address, browser and device information, the requested URL, and the time of the request. Analytics and performance measurements are described below.

Public listing information. We collect group buy details from public sources such as Geekhack, including project names, organizer or vendor names, images, dates, and source links. Published listing information is visible to visitors.

How we use information

We use information to maintain and correct listings, respond to messages, operate and protect the site, understand readership, improve performance, and meet legal obligations.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on legitimate interests in operating and improving this directory, consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Analytics, browser storage, and advertising

Vercel Web Analytics. We use aggregate usage information such as pages visited, referring sites, approximate location, and browser or device type. Vercel describes this service as using a temporary request-derived identifier rather than third-party cookies, with that visitor identifier discarded after 24 hours. See Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy documentation.

Vercel Speed Insights. We use performance measurements such as loading times, page routes, browser and device type, and approximate country to improve the site. See Vercel’s Speed Insights privacy documentation.

Display preference. Your grid or list preference is saved in your browser’s local storage under mkgbs-catalog-view. This display setting remains until you change it or clear site data in your browser.

Advertising. Google AdSense advertising is currently disabled on MKGBs, and its advertising script is not loaded. When Google ads are enabled, Google and other third-party advertising vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize ads.

You can manage personalized Google ads in Google Ads Settings and find participating third-party advertising opt-outs at YourAdChoices. See how Google uses information on partner sites. Opting out does not necessarily stop all ads or all data processing.

Service providers and external websites

Providers used to host the site, measure usage and performance, receive submissions, and handle email, including Vercel and Google, process information for those services. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to protect the site or address abuse. Providers may process information in the United States or other countries under their applicable privacy terms.

The directory links to Geekhack, vendors, Google Forms, and YouTube. Images and video thumbnails may load from external servers, which receive the technical information needed to deliver them. External sites and forms have their own privacy policies. Review Google’s privacy policy for Google Forms, Gmail, and YouTube.

Retention and security

We retain messages and submission information for as long as needed to respond, maintain the directory, resolve issues, or meet legal obligations. Public listing details may remain in the catalog’s history. Technical and analytics retention also depends on provider settings and policies; the 24-hour analytics identifier lifetime is not a retention limit for all site information.

No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Avoid including confidential information in submissions or messages.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can clear your display preference through your browser’s site-data settings and control cookies through your browser. Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of certain advertising-related processing. You may also complain to your local privacy regulator.

To ask about your information or exercise applicable rights, email mkgbsinfo@gmail.com with enough context to locate the information. We may need to verify the request before acting and will respond as required by applicable law. Rights can be subject to legal exceptions.

Children’s privacy

MKGBs is a general-interest hobby directory and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.

Updates and contact

We may update this policy when the site’s features, providers, or information practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
